The Vision of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of Canada

The Ukrainian Orthodox Church of Canada, by clearly communicating Her teachings and values to us, Her faithful, as individuals and as a community, will foster an environment of love and caring that will challenge us to pursue our fundamental human calling of deification (обоження/theosis) — the process by which human persons grow God-like. Thus, together we may become "a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that [we] may proclaim the praises of Him who called [us] out of the darkness into His marvelous light..." [1 Peter 2:9]

The Mission of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of Canada

Through our stewardship in the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of Canada and through the contribution of our individual spiritual gifts, material blessings and personal talents, we will individually and collectively assist the Church in its pastoral work in Canada, and elsewhere, by witnessing God's grace and love for humanity through our Church's heritage and traditions, to ensure that all who seek Christ might find Him.

We will individually and collectively take part in the efforts of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of Canada to achieve this goal through:

  • the understanding of the Church's clearly articulated principles as they impact the spiritual life of the Church through increased instruction in our faith and traditions;

  • an increased sense of ownership among clergy and laity regarding the well-being of Church-life through both personal and financial stewardship;

  • more harmonious and intensive co-participation among the administrative structures of the Church (Consistory, diocesan and parish councils, Church committees and commissions) and Her functional components (bishops, other clergy, laity) when executing the policies and programs of the Church;

  • maintaining a leadership role in the development of closer spiritual ties among all Ukrainian Orthodox Churches in the world; and

  • developing humanitarian, social and charitable programs in our communities.
